Changes ahead for New Horizons services
New Horizons is proud to announce key changes in service delivery and accommodation in Aberdare, Spring 2012.
Accommodation in Aberdare During spring 2012 the New Horizons’ Aberdare project and offices (currently based in Cardiff Street, Aberdare) will be moving to an alternative venue in Aberdare town centre. We have been based in Cardiff Street since 2007 however in these times of austerity we need to consider what is ‘best value’ for money and what will give us financial stability, in the longer term, as a charity. As a result we will be downsizing but more importantly remaining within Aberdare town centre. We are hoping to continue providing a range of services from our new base but the size may limit what will be on offer. The staff and trustees will keep everyone informed of progress with this move as and when available.
New service delivery
As from April 2012 there will be important changes to our services. New Horizons will be offering its service users an opportunity to develop their own Recovery Plan with appropriate support. The Recovery Plan will help our members
to monitor their progress, target areas for development and to maintain an active control of their lives. It will also aid us to monitor our progress and to keep us at the cusp of excellence in providing quality support for our members. The Plan will also include details of what services our members can expect from New Horizons.
New Horizons
Manages a range of resource and outreach centres throughout Rhondda Cynon Taff for people experiencing mental health or emotional wellbeing issues.
New Horizons projects the positive image of people suffering mental health problems through challenging discrimination by means of education, outreach work, information and support services.
Mental Health
1 in 4 people will experience mental health problems at some time in their life. The stigma attached to mental health issues adds to injury.
During the journey to recover people may need support as they can become isolated and their confidence shattered.

Thank you for your support
New Horizons would like to say a big thank you to all the donors. Every penny we receive makes a real difference to the lives of people affected by mental health.
Unlike other mental health charities, New Horizons receives no financial support from the Welsh Assembly, and very few donations from supporters. This means we have to spend a significant amount of our time raising the money just to be here.
